The Last Christmas

The Last Christmas

So many jingles, so many fleshly tingles,
So many tunes, so many christmas cartoons.

Praise God! Glory to Christ in the lowly manger!
Yahweh will destroy our hypocrisy—want to wager?
The babe came that those made righteous might mourn;
Christmas wraps merchants and moms in greedy porn.
The angels sang so the Christmas poor might find peace;
The voice of christmas is hurled wayward on emotional release.
Adam's Son was born unto us that we might despise and lose this life;
The christmas carriage takes us away to things, children, and wife.
The Christmas star led wise men to a humble Lord;
Now everyone has starry knowledge and with Truth is bored.
This spirit of christmas pierces my mind, senses, and wounded soul—
I wait for the still, small Voice to make me Christmas-whole.
